Former Syracuse University basketball player John Wallace and former University of Buffalo basketball player Modie Cox will present “Winning Because I Tried” to the 6th grade students at WSA at Blodgett on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Westside Academy is located at 312 Oswego Street on the city’s Near Westside.
“Winning Because I Tried” is facilitated by the two former student-athletes and teaches children ages 8-18, that success is in their effort, not the final outcome. The program stresses that it is not about winning or losing, but rather believing in yourself and doing the best that you can. The programs goal is to make youth better prepared for what life has to offer them.
