On Monday, April 29th, 2024, around 8:21 a.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to the Park Street Bridge for a report of a motor vehicle collision. When they arrived, they found a truck carrying a shipping container had struck the bridge. Officers were able to remove this vehicle from underneath the bridge by 8:35 a.m. The driver did not suffer any injuries as a result of the collision. They received multiple tickets for related traffic charges. The vehicle suffered damage, but there was no apparent structural damage to the bridge.
As Officers were clearing the scene, a second vehicle, a tractor trailer, struck the bridge around 8:55 a.m. The driver of this vehicle also did not suffer any inquires, and received multiple tickets for related traffic charges. A representative from CSX was already on the scene, and is examining the bridge for any structural damage in relation to this incident.
