Syracuse, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse wishes to inform residents and visitors of temporary street closures for Mary Nelson’s 2024 Backpack Giveaway event in, and around, Sankofa Park on Saturday, August 17. The closures are necessary to facilitate event setup, presentation, and breakdown.
The following streets will be closed on Saturday, August 17:
- South Salina Street, from East Beard Avenue to East Colvin Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- East Colvin Street, from South State Street to South Salina Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wood Avenue, from Mark Avenue to South Salina Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Drivers may experience delays and are advised to use alternate routes if possible. All parked vehicles must follow the odd/even parking rules and posted signage on neighborhood streets to allow for emergency vehicles to pass through.
