(June 20, 2024) On June 15, 2024, at 2:38 AM Syracuse Police Officers responded to the area of 233 Lincoln Ave. in regards to a stabbing complaint. Units arrived on scene and located the victim, 28-year-old Willy Stridiron, suffering from apparent injuries consistent with being injured by bladed instrument(s). Syracuse Police Officers and AMR paramedics rendered medical aid to Stridiron. Despite Syracuse Police Officer’s and AMR paramedic’s best efforts, Stridiron succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation was commenced by CID Homicide Unit detectives on June 15, 2024, where numerous people were interviewed, and an extensive neighborhood and citywide canvass was conducted. In addition, evidence recovered was processed and thoroughly analyzed.
As a result of the above efforts, a suspect was identified as 29-year-old Darnell K. Jones.
On June 19, 2024, Jones was located in the 1000 block of Midland Ave. by Homicide Detectives and taken into custody without incident. Jones was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division. He was later lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center, where he is held pending his arraignment.
Darnell K. Jones was charged with the following crimes:
Penal Law 125.25, Murder 2nd
Penal Law 265.01, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th.
