Syracuse Housing Authority 3rd Annual $10K Tournament

Syracuse, New York – SHA’s $10K Youth Basketball tournament returns TODAY, starting at 10am at Wilson Park! The Girls’ tournament kicks off the start of the annual $10K Tournament with round-robin games and concludes with their championship game on 07/29/2023!

The Boys’ Tournaments will occur next weekend, with the 13-15 age group on 07/29 and the 16-20 age group on 07/30.

SHA Tournament

The SHA tournament’s intention is to provide youth at risk of perpetrating or being victims of community and gun violence an opportunity to create positive and healthy connections with adults throughout our city. SHA hopes to use this event as a catalyst initiative to prevent youth violence and exemplify alternative pathways to destructive behavior, and we are proud to say that none of the youth participants involved in our tournament for the last 3 years have fallen victim to community gun violence!

Like past years, throughout the tournament, SHA will facilitate a positive connection with adults within our community and aim to bridge the gap between law enforcement, first responders, and connect participants with different community groups and organizations.

SHA invites the community to come out and enjoy a fun-filled day of healthy competition, free food, and good family times!

A few of this year’s sponsors include Upstate Medical University, TAG Associates, Inc., OneGroup, C&S Companies, Home HeadQuarters, Pepsi, JMA Wireless, Empower FCU, Brown & Brown, CenTrio, and more!

An extra special thank you to their Elite MVP Sponsor, SERVPRO of SW Onondaga County Team Luzzi, for their generous donation of $10K!

In this workshop, Cayetano Valenzuela and Sofía Luz Pérez will share their own practices and processes in making a portrait/self-portrait and ask participants to create a portrait or self-portrait. The emphasis of the portrait should be on identity and cultural background/ancestry, but they encourage everyone to delve into any part of themselves or the person they are drawn to portraying. This is a free workshop with limited space available. We ask that you attend both sessions. Art supplies will be provided and you are welcome to also bring your own.
