Micron Clean Room Simulation OCC
April is National Community College Month, and Onondaga Community College is celebrating its first year-to-year enrollment increase in nearly a decade! For the first time since 2016, OCC’s enrollment numbers are higher than the previous year’s:
2022-2023 7,320 students
2023-2024 8,112 students
Percentage Increase: 10.82%
Reasons for the increased enrollment include:
- Nationwide trends show prospective students and families taking advantage of the high-quality and affordable options a community college education provides. Community college enrollment increased more nationwide this academic year than any sector in higher education. Also, 68% of OCC students who complete their degrees do so without having loans to repay.
- New academic programs such as; Social Media and Digital Communication; Sound Recording; Laboratory Science; Cybersecurity; Construction Management; multiple “here to career” and transfer programs in our School of Health, Wellness & Human Services; and the new Micron-related Electromechanical Technology program. The Micron Cleanroom Simulation Lab we are constructing on campus will be completed in 2025 along with new CNC Machining, Welding, and HVAC training centers.
- Increase in seamless transfer pathway agreements with four-year schools.
- Addition of more OCC Lazers Athletics teams including Esports and Competitive Cheerleading. In the 2024-2025 academic year the Lazers will add Men’s and Women’s Wrestling.
Onondaga Community College will host an Open House for prospective students and their families this Saturday, April 6 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Students will have the opportunity to speak with professors in degree programs they are interested in, ask our Financial Aid experts questions, and tour the campus. Anyone interested in attending can RSVP at this link:
