[Syracuse, NY] — Justice for Palestine (a committee of the Syracuse Peace Council) Syracuse DSA, and the Syracuse chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation joined to host a rally in support of Palestinian rights and to demand immediate action from local representatives. The rally took place on Friday, October 13th, at 4 PM, starting at the Federal Building and concluding at Columbus Circle in Syracuse.
The organizing groups have outlined a series of demands in an effort to bring attention to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and advocate for a just and lasting resolution. These demands reflect a commitment to peace, human dignity, and social justice:
- Peace Necessitates an End to the Israeli Occupation: We are calling for an immediate end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
- End the Siege of Gaza: We demand an immediate end to the siege of Gaza, allowing the people of Gaza to access vital resources and services.
- End of US Financing of Occupation: We demand an end to all financial support provided by the United States to the Israeli occupation and the cessation of US military support for Israel.
- Call on Local Representatives to Endorse the Not on Our Dime Bill: We call on local representatives to support the “Not on Our Dime” bill, which seeks to halt funding from NYS charitable organizations for the Israeli illegal settlements.
- Call on Schumer and Gillibrand to Support an Immediate Ceasefire: We call on Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to endorse an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of essential water and electrical services in Gaza.
Justice for Palestine, Syracuse DSA, and the Syracuse chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation organized and invited the community to join in this peaceful demonstration. The organizers emphasize the importance of standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and taking a stance for justice, equality, and peace.
