Syracuse, NY – On Thursday June 27th, Democratic nominee for New York’s 22nd Congressional District John Mannion held a press conference to kick off the General Election and highlight the importance of flipping the critical swing district from red to blue.
During the press conference, Mannion outlined what he’ll do in Congress, including defending women’s reproductive freedom, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and strengthening border security. Mannion also called out his opponent, Brandon Williams, for consistently caving to the extreme members of his Republican Party and failing to get anything done on issues impacting Central New York and Mohawk Valley families.
“We have to protect a woman’s right to choose. I’ve always supported our law enforcement, and they’ve supported me in every election, including this one. We have an immigration system that needs dramatic reform and needs to be fixed. I’m here to stand up and protect and expand Social Security and Medicare. And to make sure that our schools are funded.
“As a contrast, the potential for a national abortion ban if the Republicans take over the House, Senate, and White House is real. They have fringe ideas like banning contraception and IVF. What we’re seeing sometimes is our representatives being influenced by the former president or their party. Then there are issues like immigration, which have been politicized. We can’t have that,” said NY-22Democratic nominee John Mannion.
