On Friday, May 24th 2024 at approximately 6:24 PM, officers with the Syracuse Police Department responded to the intersection of South Salina Street and West Beard Avenue for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. Upon arrival, the officers located a male victim on the ground in the roadway. The victim was transported to University Hospital by emergency medical providers from American Medical Response where he was pronounced dead.
The initial investigation into the crash determined that the victim was operating an electric bicycle when he was traveling south bound on South Salina Street. The electric bicycle struck a bus that was traveling north bound on South Salina Street before making a left turn onto West Beard Avenue. The Syracuse Police Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
The victim is a 40-year-old male; his name is not being released until proper next of kin notifications are made.
