On Thursday, the 7th day of March 2024 at around 1:03 p.m. several officers from the Syracuse Police Department responded to the 604 East Division Street for a report of an 11-year-old male, who was unconscious and not breathing. Members from the Syracuse Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived and began CPR on the child, after which, he was transported to University Hospital for treatment, where he was listed in critical condition.
The male victim, 11-year-old Ashton Degonzaque pronounced dead at the hospital several hours later. The scene is currently being held. The cause of death is part of the active and on-going investigation.
