Hundreds of Local Volunteers Go Bald to Support Childhood Cancer Research

Kitty Hoynes

St. Baldrick’s Foundation event to raise money to find the best treatments for kids with cancer

(Syracuse, NY ) The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest charity funder of children’s cancer research grants, will host one of its signature head-shaving events at Kitty Hoynes on March 3rd, where more than hundreds of shaves will shave their heads to raise money for lifesaving childhood cancer research.

Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and in the U.S. one in five kids diagnosed won’t survive. Even for kids who do survive, by the time they’re 50, more than 99% have had a chronic health problem and 96% have experienced severe or life-threatening conditions.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation awards grants to various institutions around the country, including SUNY Upstate Medical University/Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. These grants are made possible by all the volunteers and donors.

This is Kitty Hoynes 20th yearly event having raised over $6.7 million with over 7300 volunteers braving the shave. Here is a link to this year’s event page https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/KittyHoynes24

St. Baldrick’s is on a mission to help give kids a lifetime by funding the best childhood cancer research, wherever it takes place. Donations raised at events like this have made it possible for St. Baldrick’s to fund more than $340 million to date.

You can make a difference for kids with cancer by participating in a head-shaving event and raising money that will go toward lifesaving research. Visit Stbaldricks.org/get-involved to learn more.
