The Report Summarizes Findings from Extensive Community Outreach Efforts
Syracuse, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse Office of the Mayor today released a 74-page report summarizing the input collected through the public engagement phase of the search for the next chief of the Syracuse Police Department. The full report is currently available on the front page of the City’s website and at bit.ly/syrgov-report169.

“I feel strongly that this decision should be informed by a conversation with the community,” said Syracuse Mayor Walsh. “We hope it serves as a foundation to continue building the relationship between the community and the police department.”
The City has selected Public Sector Search and Consulting, Inc., a national search firm that offers public sector executive search and consulting services, to lead the search process. The search will consider candidates from within the department, the surrounding region, and beyond, to ensure the selection is made from the very best individuals available.
The city is working to hire a new chief before the end of 2018.
