Annual Fireworks Display Will Include Performance by the Blacklites; Will Be Held at Department Headquarters in Historic White Oaks Park in Celebration of Parks Centennial
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse will host its annual Fourth of July fireworks display at the Parks Department headquarters in White Oaks Park on Friday, June 30 at 7 p.m. White Oaks Park is located at 412 Spencer Street in Syracuse. This year’s fireworks display will be part of the city’s Parks Department centennial program.
“This is an exciting way to celebrate our nation’s 241st birthday and enjoy a summer evening with friends and family,” said Lazarus Sims, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs. “We hope everyone in the community will come out and enjoy this great family-friendly event.”
This year, the fireworks celebration will take place at the Parks Department headquarters, located in historic White Oaks Park. This site will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Department, which was incorporated in 1917. The Parks Department headquarters once served as a community bath and has been a site for Parks activity for most of the century. It is now home to the Parks Department’s administrative offices.
The fireworks display will happen at approximately 9:30 p.m., following a performance by the Blacklites. Children’s games and activities will be available. There is no charge for admission; parking will be available on neighborhood streets. Patrons are discouraged from bringing dogs that may frighten easily from the loud noises associated with fireworks.
