2 Lane Closures Planned for Interstate 81 – City of Syracuse Southbound and 81 Northbound in the Town of Salina

Interstate 81 Southbound – City of Syracuse Interstate 81 southbound will be reduced to one lane, south of Exit 23A-23B-22 (Hiawatha Blvd Destiny USA Drive Bear St), along the bridge over Park Street in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, August 5, through Tuesday, August 6, to facilitate a bridge joint repair. Interstate 81 Northbound in the Town of Salina, Onondaga County Interstate 81 northbound will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between Exits 27-28 (Syracuse Airport N Syracuse) and the on-ramp to Interstate 81 northbound from the service road, in the Town of Salina, Onondaga County, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, beginning Monday, August 5 through Tuesday, August 6, to facilitate preparations for the demolition of the eastbound Colonel Eileen Collins Boulevard bridge. Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
