Senator John W. Mannion Releases Second Campaign Ad Featuring Deeply Personal Story of His Mother Being Forced to Carry A Stillborn Baby to Term in Pre-Roe America

“Mother” recounts a pregnancy lost at seven months but still carried to term at a time when abortion care was limited and Senator Mannion’s vow to bring his record in New York of passing the strongest abortion protections in the country to the U.S. Congress Syracuse, NY— Senator John Mannion released his second campaign ad in the race for NY-22 featuring the deeply personal story of his mother being forced to carry a stillborn baby to term in pre-Roe America. The spot, “Mother,” recounts a pregnancy lost at seven months but still carried to term at a time when abortion and reproductive healthcare were limited and Senator Mannion’s vow to bring his record in New York of passing the strongest abortion protections in the country to the U.S. Congress. Senator John W. Mannion said, “Carrying a stillborn child was the most difficult thing my mother experienced in her lifetime – she described it as ‘torture.’ No woman should have to endure that in 2024 in the United States of America. If you believe in a woman’s right to choose, IVF, and maternal healthcare – stand with me and reject Brandon Williams and the MAGA Republicans who are trying to turn back the clock and erode longstanding rights.” Senator Mannion is a staunch advocate for women’s rights, specifically championing legislation that protects women’s autonomy over their reproductive health, and protecting access to abortion services in New York. His active involvement in passing multiple significant bills in the NY State Senate underscores his dedication to upholding fundamental rights and ensuring equality for all. The Democratic Primary for New York’s 22nd Congressional District is June 25th For more information about Senator John Mannion’s and his campaign for US Congress in NY-22, please visit www.mannionforny.com.

Williams Provides Statement on ACP Expiration, Update on Legislation

Syracuse — Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22) issued the following statement in response to the lapse of the Affordable Connectivity Program’s funding at the end of May: “This fight isn’t over yet. I am working across the aisle and around the clock to fund the ACP as soon as possible. This is critical for families across NY-22 and nationwide. We will not stop until this program is funded and subscribed households can rest assured that they will receive its benefit.” Since its introduction last week, the Affordable Connectivity Program Improvement and Extension Act of 2024 has gained ten cosponsors in the House of Representatives, as well as the support of NCTA, which represents the country’s largest broadband providers and streaming services. In the meantime, alternative programs exist for families struggling to cover the cost of internet access. Constituents whose household income meets certain guidelines or who qualify for federal assistance programs such as SNAP or Medicaid may be eligible for Lifeline, a Federal Communications Commission program that provides monthly discounts on qualifying internet services. Constituents impacted by the ACP’s expiration are encouraged to reach out to the Congressman’s office to determine their eligibility for alternative programs. Congressman Williams maintains his dedication to securing accessible, affordable internet for all Americans. Ensuring that this legislation replenishing the Affordable Connectivity Program, at no additional cost to the taxpayer, moves through Congress quickly remains one of his top priorities.  “To anyone who is feeling the impact of the ACP’s expiration, visit my website or contact my office for further information on what options may be available. I urge leaders in Congress and industry to come together now and do what’s right for millions of Americans.”
