Greater Syracuse Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance “we are still left with many questions and concerns.”

In the aftermath of a double funeral for Lueth Mo and Dhal Apet, the Greater Syracuse Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, a collaboration of clergy representing the voices of several congregations, wants to give a statement. First, we extended our condolences to the family and the community that have suffered a tragic loss. Also we have heard the initial statements by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and acknowledge the current investigations by the State’s Attorney General’s office.   After hearing statements and watching the video released by the AG’s office, we are still left with many questions and concerns. As a community that entrusts their public safety to varying law enforcement agencies, we must demand high levels of accountability. We anxiously await the findings of the investigation.  We insist on accountability. As discrepancies or procedural infractions are uncovered, we demand that the deputy sheriff and the sheriff’s department are given consequences, up to and including criminal charges, if warranted. The use of deadly force should always be a last resort.  The Syracuse community wants to move forward in peace and partnership with all law enforcement agencies. We must however, demand the highest levels of transparency, integrity and accountability.  We welcome any dialogues for peace and improved relations in our city that will protect our public safety.  For additional information, I can be reached at 315-460-5058, Thank You.  Regards, Pastor E. Brian EurePresident, Greater Syracuse Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance
