47th Annual Great NYS Model Train Show Delivers!

The Great NYS Model Train Show filled the Exposition Center with hobbyists of all ages 47th Annual Great NYS Model Train Show. The oldest and largest Model Train show and sale in New York State featuring over 25 operating train layouts, 300+ vendor tables and a miniature children’s train ride! Held at the NYS Fairgrounds Exposition Center, November 5 & 6. This was an event that attracted people of all ages. Growing up with my brother having various car tracks to play with I was already mesmerized by miniature cars and trains. Especially when there’s a theme, a town village or cityscape. With 25 operating train layouts there was a lot to see and experience. Sometimes train enthusiasts will recreate a scene. The Onondaga Lake Parkway Bridge hit once again by a vehicle, as it only allows about ten feet, 8 inches or so for safe passage. Periodically, someone’s trailer, cab or both collide with the low bridge. Legos have been around since I was a kid, were once used to build simple designs (back in the day). Lego has evolved into to a toy making power brand. The Lego train experience integrates traditional model train hobbyist with Lego’s miniature construction capabilities. 47th Annual Great NYS Model Train Show For those viewing this video on a mobile device click here. And of course, the traditional model trains with landscaping. Creating everything from a bustling city to an entire Carnival along with working rides. Trains from different time periods in locomotive history, models documenting every era of trains from smoke billowing locomotives to sleek modern aerodynamic trains of tomorrow. Vendors were also available with accessories that are needed for setting up and growing your model train experience. Trees, grass, landscaping, trains, working carnival rides; the large Exposition Center was well used as exhibitors and the public had plenty of room to browse and experience the many intricate model trains on display. Small children had an extra treat with a ridable train giving children, many for their first ride on a train. Sponsored by The Central New York Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. This show is a fundraiser for the continued preservation and restoration efforts of our Historic Railroad Station Museums and Railroad Equipment at Martisco (Marcellus), Central Square and the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse NY.

Statement by Mayor Walsh’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board on the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs

“Syracuse’s LGBTQ+ community is sending strength and love to the people of Colorado Springs today. The Club Q shooting is horrific and strikes directly at our hearts more than 1,700 miles away. Tragically, no community is safe from individual acts of violence but all must join together in rejecting hatred and intolerance in any form. On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, Syracuse’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board stands firmly together with Mayor Walsh and people across Syracuse in supporting Colorado Springs, condemning hate and in working for a world of understanding and tolerance for all.” More information on the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board is at syr.gov/lgbtq.
