On Friday, August 30th 2024 at 8:14 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to 901 Madison Street, apartment 27, in regard to a 911 call with a report that someone had been shot. Syracuse Police Officers arrived and located the victim, 15-year-old Alexcia Lynch, who resided at 225 W. Corning Ave. suffering from gunshot wounds. On scene, police officers rendered lifesaving aid to Alexcia Lynch, however, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation was commenced by CID detectives and Homicide Unit detectives where numerous people were interviewed and an extensive neighborhood canvass was conducted. In addition, several search warrants were executed, and evidence was recovered.
As a result of the above efforts, a 15-year-old male was identified as the suspect of the homicide.
The 15-year-old male suspect turned himself in to the Syracuse Police Department at the Public Safety Building, located at 511 S. State St. Syracuse, New York 13202. He was arraigned and remanded to the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Facility.
In regard to this investigation, the 15-year-old male suspect was charged with the following crimes:
– Penal Law 125.25 Murder 2nd
– Penal Law 265.03, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd
