Join 100 Black Men Inc. for an important discussion on gun violence in our communities. This event will bring together leaders, activists, and community members to address the impact of gun violence and explore solutions.
Gun violence remains a tragic part of life in Syracuse. Many victims are children or young adults under the age of 20, despite police data showing that the number of shooting victims, injured or dead, fell from 162 in 2022 to 108 by late 2023. What’s the solution? An online poll conducted by 100 Black Men of Syracuse found that respondents favored requiring students to take conflict resolution classes or workshops and directing more police resources to high-risk areas of the city as the most effective measures.
In partnership with WCNY, 100 Black Men is hosting an hour-long recording on June 18 at 6 p.m. at the WCNY-TV studios. The event will feature panelists who will update the community on the progress made in preventing gun violence since the survey and strategize how all stakeholders can collaborate to accelerate life-saving efforts.
Doors open at 5:30, and the taping will begin promptly at 6 p.m. The recording will be followed by a reception hosted by 100 Black Men from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
If you have a question you would like the panel to answer or discuss, please submit it here. Alternatively, you can write it down when you check in for registration before the event.
